You have in your hand a precious piece of me for life — the heart of my baby boy. And while it’s strange to hear me say it, I know you’ll understand me when you have your child someday.
I give you an essential part of me as I step aside and let you become the center of his world when you marry my son. I will accept that from this point on that you will be the woman of his life, his wife.
Your shoulder will replace mine as you become his confidant, the source of his strength and hope. Your hands will replace mine as you become his partner in life.
Know that I will try my very best to respect your ways, your beliefs, and your decisions as you raise a family of your own. I will stay out of your way, but you will always find me whenever you, my son and your family need me.
Because you love him and he loves you, I will love you like my daughter. Our relationship won’t be perfect all the time but know I will never get tired of wanting what’s best for you and your family.
As I raise the boy who will be your future husband, I promise to teach him how to treat a woman properly.
I will raise him to love you with all his heart, to stay loyal even in situations when loyalty becomes difficult. I will raise him to be a decent man who will treat you with respect and see you as his equal.
I will raise him to know how to cherish you, appreciate your love, and treat you right.
I will try my best to raise a responsible, loving, compassionate, and God-fearing man out of this boy who will help you build a happy family with respect and dignity.
May we both be guided by our mutual love for this man and your future children. May our love be stronger than everything else. The only thing I ask of you is to love him. Love my son with all your heart.
Love him even when times get tough and when the going gets rough.
Love him throughout your lives together, stand by him and be his guide.
Love him enough to want the best for him and the beautiful family you will build together.
Because I have accepted that I cannot and will not be with him forever even though I’d want to, I shall leave his heart with you.
